The incident took place at the bus station as commuters made their way home at around 5pm on Friday(28).

The woman and her attacker are said to have left the area before officers arrived at the scene.

One passenger took to social media following the incident to say it had left her shaken and urged National Express and the police to help.

She said: "Security needed on Stourbridge bus station ASAP. Woman being attacked by a man.

"He’s putting his hands round her neck and mouthing off at everyone. He came over and put his hand round her neck and pushed her back towards the window.

"Then walked off and was having a go at someone else. Then came back to have a go at her again and threatened to beat her up."

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called to a report that a man had been seen grabbing a woman by the neck and hitting her head against a glass panel at around 5.10pm on Friday(28) at Stourbridge Bus Station on Vauxhall Road.

"Officers arrived, but there was no sign of the man or woman, who were thought to have walked off."

The spokesman added that they believe they have now identified the woman, but enquiries are still on-going.

Anyone with information can call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log number 1915 of September 28. Alternatively, information can be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
