Over the past 20 years, the Summer House pub in Gospel End Road, Sedgley, has been famous for its extravagant Christmas lights displays, which have attracted visitors from all over the region.

Sadly, though, there will be no display this year, save for the three snowmen which have been left outside.

Licensee Amy Harper, who kept the pub with husband Rory, since taking over from Phil and Karen Kennedy last year, called time on the pub at the weekend, blaming rising brewery costs.

The tradition was started by former landlord John Coombes, who began decorating the pub with brightly coloured lights.

Over the years that followed, the decorations became more and more elaborate including, at various times, an igloo and a castle, as well as the usual illuminated reindeer and Christmas trees.

The displays continued when Phil and Karen took over.

The pub, which dates back from the 19th century, closed for the last time on Sunday night.
