Kyle Harper was awarded the Ray McGuirk Young Volunteer award after being nominated by his auntie Charlotte Maher-Butler at the Dudley Council for Voluntary Service Awards.

The awards aim to recognise the outstanding achievements and commitments made by volunteers across the borough.

With the help their family, Kyle and Charlotte formed All Stars Youth Club in August which caters for young people with special needs and disabilities aged from eight to 30.

Kyle said: "I am over the moon and so happy that I have achieved the award. I would like to thank all of my family for the outstanding support and most of all Charlotte Maher-Butler.

"I hope to continue achieving my goals and be successful. I would also like to thank the local community for their support too."

The club aim to boost confidence through a number of activities, they also teach valuable life lessons such as cookery and healthy eating.

Charlotte, who was also nominated for an award, was inspired to set up the club after being made redundant as a youth worker at Dudley Council and seeing first-hand the effects of youth club closures on young people.

She said: "Kyle has shown great enthusiasm and dedication towards setting up and volunteering at our youth club, All Stars.

"He has helped by organising a charity ball and Tesco bag pack raising over £1000 in total. He is a fantastic, positive role model for our members. We are so proud that All Stars Youth Club have been recognised at Dudley CVS Awards."

The club holds weekly sessions at Himley Methodist Church and costs £3 per session.

They are ran entirely by volunteers and reliant on donations.

They are looking for businesses who may be able to make donations or assist with fundraising, for more information contact all.stars.youth.club2019@gmail.com
