A 200-year-old wall has been knocked down following the incidents in Gospel End Street.

It comes as numerous crashes have taken place along the stretch in recent years, with ward councillors calling it a ‘renowned danger spot’.

Concerned residents say that last week a two-car crash ploughed into the wall on the bend, with emergency services in attendance.

Just on Sunday, a van crashed into the same spot and a man was charged with drink driving.

Karl Plant, aged 45 of Pine Green, Dudley will appear at Dudley Magistrates court on September 13.

He still stand accused of driving a motor vehicle when the alcohol level was above the limit.

Following the crashes, orange barriers have been put in place in the area surrounding the wall, which has half tumbled over.

A concerned resident, who did not want to be named, told the Express & Star: "We are really worried that these cars come around the corner and can lose control if they take it too sharply.

"The wall that they crash into is up to 200 years old and has partly fell over and been reduced to rubble.

"It is a miracle that people don't get hurt."

She continued: "This is an issue that we really want highlighting. We need to sort this out and put some measures in place to stop anything fatal happening."

Further around the bend, at the road’s junction with Vicar Street, safety improvements are set to get underway later this year.

Plans are in the pipeline to reconstruct Gospel End Street in Sedgley to highlight give-way signs and markings.

It can prove a tricky section for motorists to navigate, due to the sharpness of the bend and location of the road being on a hillside.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Gospel End Road at around 10.20pm on August 27 following reports that a car had collided with a wall.

"The man will appear in court charged with drink driving following the collision in Dudley."
