An application to demolish the Bunch of Bluebells in Netherton, Dudley, and replace it with eight homes has been approved by planning bosses.

In 2018 planning officials moved to stop the demolition, and insisted the building should be left standing.

In refusing the application, the officer stated the the pub contributes to ‘local character and distinctiveness of Netherton’.

But now a full planning application was approved with conditions in recent days.

In a council officer's report it says: "The development would provide new housing to help meet the borough's demand for new homes, and the proposed type and tenure’ layout and design are appropriate for the area and can be accommodated without any significant adverse impact on existing residents, heritage, or the local highway network.

"The proposals would provide a high quality development, which is considered would make a positive contribution to the area and which constitutes sustainable development."
