Man dies at Saltwells Nature Reserve after cardiac arrest

A man has died after being found unconscious at a Dudley beauty spot.

Emergency services rushed to Saltwells Nature Reserve, in Netherton, on Wednesday afternoon to reports of a man in cardiac arrest.

Members of the public desperately tried to save the man, in his 20s, by performing CPR, before paramedics arrived at the scene at around 5.30pm.

But despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Midlands Police confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Unfortunately nothing could be done and the man was confirmed dead at the scene."

Specialist crews from Midlands Air Ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team joined paramedics at the scene.

A West Midlands Police spokesman added: "His death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner will be informed in due course."
