Ambulance vehicle rushing to patient in collision with car in Kingswinford

An ambulance vehicle which was rushing to help a patient was in collision with a car on a busy road.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service rapid response vehicle was using blue lights when it was involved in a crash with another car at around 10.40am on Wednesday.

It took place outside the Aldi supermarket in Dudley Road, in Kingswinford.

Onlookers said that the ambulance vehicle mounted the pavement, before stopping inches away from a bus stop.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "While a rapid response vehicle was en-route to an incident it was involved in a collision with another car.

"The rapid response car was using blue lights as it was heading to a patient in a serious condition. As it was passing the junction of a side road a collision happened.

"Thankfully, none of those involved were hurt and no one was taken to hospital.

“Two ambulances were already on the way to the original call and treated that patient.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police added: "This was a two car collision with minor injuries.

"It happened at around 10:45am near Aldi on the Dudley Road in Kingswinford."
