Man stabbed in the back in Halesowen

A 21-year-old man was seriously injured when he was stabbed in the back in Halesowen.

The man was walking down Beech Avenue, in Blackheath, at around 9pm on Thursday when he was attacked by the unknown offender.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Neighbours in the street sad the area was cordoned off by police for a number of hours.

Jo Goodman said: “The police told me it was a stabbing by the postbox at the top of the road. I came back from Christmas shopping at around 10pm to find the front of my house all cordoned off. By the time I got there, the road was still sealed off with police cars and tape.”

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “The man was walking along the road at around 9pm, when he was stabbed in the back by an unknown offender. The victim did not see his attacker and no weapon was seen.

“He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Enquiries are on-going to establish what happened.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to Beech Avenue, Blackheath shortly after 9pm last night.

“A man suffered serious injuries and received trauma care by ambulance staff before being taken by land ambulance on blue lights to hospital for further emergency care.

“One ambulance and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene.”
