Around £500 is thought to have been taken from Gymophobics on High Street, Halesowen, a ladies only gym.

The cash had been donated by members for cancer charity Macmillan and Edward's Trust, which support bereaved parents and was kept in money bags and envelopes a locker. Some cash also belonged to the gym.

Someone is believed to have sneaked in to the gym when the doors were left open on Wednesday, between 11.45am and 12.15pm, due to the hot weather.

Manager Andrea Withers said a key had been taken from the gym to gain access to the locker. The theft has been reported to the police.

She said: "It says on it the money is for Macmillan and Edward's Trust so to steal from any charity is wrong.

"One is looking after people at the end of life and the other is for bereaved parents. It's pretty low."
