Funds top £7k for Halesowen hit-and-run victim Benjamin Morse

A fundraising appeal for the funeral of a man who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run has raised more than £7,000.

Benjamin Morse, aged 36, died when he he was hit by a car in Halesowen at around 12.15am on May 1.

Police charged 21-year-old Nidal Alboraiki, of Foxhunt Road, Halesowen, on suspicion of Mr Morse’s murder two weeks ago.

Mr Morse, a labourer from the town, was hit by a dark-coloured hatchback on Cherry Street. Medics battled to save him but he died from head injuries a short time later, an inquest heard.

The fundraising page on JustGiving was aiming to raise £6,000 for the funeral of the Arsenal fan but so far it has raised more than £7,700.

A statement on the page states: “Due to the sheer number of Ben’s family, friends, local community and many others that have requested details of where they can donate or help in regards to the funeral /celebration of Ben’s life, we have decided to create this funding avenue."
