Two men arrested after crash following police pursuit in Coseley

A suspected stolen car was involved in a crash with another vehicle as it was being pursed by police.

The collision happened on Upper Ettingshall Road, in Hurst Hill, Coseley after the vehicle, a blue Audi Q3, ran through a junction and hit the side of a Nissan Qashqai.

Dozens of police vehicles, including armed units, swarmed to the busy junction, near the Curry Lounge restaurant yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A suspected stolen car which was being pursued by officers was involved in a collision with another vehicle in Upper Ettingshall Road, Coseley, at around 4.20pm.

"Two men aged 20 and 32 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and are being taken into police custody for questioning.

"The driver of the other vehicle is not believed to have been seriously injured.

"The force's Professional Standards Department has been informed, as is routine in such matters."

Traffic was severely disrupted around the area, with heavy congestion on Shaw Road, Upper Ettingshall Road and Birmingham New Road, with the affected roads still closed two hours after the collision.
