Firefighters and paramedics were called to help the driver and extricate them from the car.

A photo was shared of the car after the crash by a fire crew online which showed the crumpled blue car with a smashed windscreen.

Brierley Hill Fire Station tweeted saying: "Car vs skip wagon yesterday.

"The driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt which resulted in head trauma (notice the hole in the windscreen), and suspected pelvic injuries.

"Great interagency working between Brierley Hill, Stourbridge fire station, West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Critical Care Paramedic and Trauma Doctor to ensure rapid extrication."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "At 2.31pm on Wednesday 6 January, fire control received a call reporting a road traffic collision between a car and a skip lorry on the junction of Bromley Street and High Street in Lye, Stourbridge.

"One fire engine from Stourbridge Fire Station and another from Brierley Hill Fire Station and 10 firefighters attended the scene in just under five minutes.

"Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters worked to extricate the driver of the car, using cutting equipment.

"Crews then made the scene safe before leaving the incident in the hands of police colleagues."
