Man injured after slipping while on Merry Hill roof

Paramedics treated a man who was injured after slipping on a roof at intu Merry Hill.

Emergency services were called to Times Square near to Merry Hill bus station at around 2.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The man, a member of staff at intu Merry Hill, had fallen on the roof and was treated for injuries not believed to be serious. He was taken to Russells Hall Hospital, in Dudley.

Bosses at intu say the member of staff was carrying at maintenance work on the roof and when he slipped.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.14pm on Wednesday to Times Square near to Merry Hill Bus Station.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who had fallen on the roof. He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further assessment.”

A intu Merry Hill spokesman added: "We are sorry to say that a member of our team was injured in a non-public area of the centre on Wednesday. They are currently recovering well in hospital and we will be supporting them during their recuperation.

"Safety is always our number one priority and we have already launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.”
