Cyclist seriously injured in Brierley Hill crash

A cyclist suffered multiple serious injuries when he was hit by a car in Brierley Hill.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Pedmore Road and Hurst Lane, at around 7.10am this morning.

The male cyclist suffered multiple serious injuries and ambulance crews administered specialist trauma care. He was then rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.

The car driver was uninjured in the crash.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a car at the junction of Pedmore Road and Hurst Lane at 7.09am on Tuesday.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and two Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Cars attended the scene. An off-duty paramedic, off-duty student paramedic and off-duty nurse also stopped at the scene to assist.

"On arrival we discovered the cyclist, a man, in a serious condition.

"He received treatment for multiple serious injuries and crews also administered specialist trauma care before transporting the man to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham on blue lights and sirens.

"The driver of the car, a man, was uninjured in the incident.”
