The ring was believed to have been lost at intu Merry Hill, Brierley Hill

Valerie Green, age 74, has owned the ring since she was 19-years-old – for 54 years.

But after a trip to intu Merry Hill shopping centre in Brierley Hill last week, the ring slipped off her hand and became lost.

Her daughter, Nicola, said it happened sometime on December 3 or 4 – she said her mother was trying on gloves in various shops and thinks it may have fallen off inside a glove.

She said: "We desperately want her to have it back – she's had it 54 years. We want to do everything possible to find it.

"My mum lost her wedding ring a few years ago too, and had to have it replaced, so she doesn't have her original wedding ring. She just has her engagement ring left."

The diamond engagement ring is described as a platinum solitaire band with an "unusual" setting that looks like a flower.
