Suspected drink driver escapes injury as car hits lamppost in Brierley Hill
A suspected drink driver has been arrested after a car hit a lamppost and ploughed down an embankment.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Stamford Road in Brierley Hill at around 7pm last night after the crash.
Two fire crews with 10 firefighters "released" the woman from the car before she was checked over by paramedics.
She was then arrested on suspicion of drink driving and traffic offences.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to reports of a car hitting a lamppost at the junction of Nuthatch Drive and Stamford Road, Stourbridge, at 7pm yesterday.
"A 45-year-old woman was checked over by paramedics before being arrested from the scene on suspicion of drink driving and traffic offences.
"She remains in police custody."
She escaped from the crash uninjured and was discharged at the scene by paramedics after being checked over.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson added: "Two crews from Stourbridge and Haden Cross, with 10 firefighters in total, attended.
"It was an RTC with a car in an embankment after a collision with a pedestrian crossing and a lamppost.
"One woman was released from the car and treated by paramedics.
"Crews then made the scene safe."
