Hinksford Lane in Swindon, near Dudley, will be closed for five days from November 17 to allow for improvement works.
Staffordshire County Council said access would be maintained for pedestrians and emergency vehicles, but buses and cycles will need to use an alternative route.
A diversion will be put in place through High Street, The Holloway, Chasepool Road, Greensforge and Mile Flat.
It is anticipated that the closure will be in force from 8am on November 17, and reopen at 4pm on November 21.
