Emergency services were called to outside Pegasus Academy, in Scotts Green Close, just before 3pm on Friday.

Police say there were reports of disorder involving a number of people – and a woman who tried to intervene was treated by paramedics at the scene.

A teenager is also understood to have been taken to hospital by his parents.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police today said: "We were called to reports of a disorder involving a number of people outside Pegasus Academy in Scotts Green Close, Dudley, at just before 3pm on Friday, March 26.

"A woman in her 40s, who tried to intervene, suffered a cut to her face which was treated by paramedics.

"We also understand a teenager was taken to hospital by his parents with cuts and bruises.

"Officers attended and spoke to the group involved but no offences were disclosed to us."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called by police at 2:58pm on Friday to an assault in Scotts Green Close. We sent one ambulance to the scene.

"Crews treated one patient, a woman, for injuries not believed to be serious and she was taken to hospital for further treatment.”

The Pegasus Academy is run by Dudley Academies Trust. A spokesman for the trust said: "Unfortunately, at the end of the day on Friday, March 26, a group of older students from a school outside of the trust arrived at the academy gates and attacked some of our learners.

"Members of our staff who were on duty outside the gates intervened and one of them was hurt, as were two of our learners. The police were called and attended, as did an ambulance.

"The safety of our learners and staff is our highest priority and violence is never tolerated. The academy is fully co-operating with the police to identify the perpetrators involved from outside the academy and has also appropriately sanctioned Pegasus learners who were involved under our disciplinary policy.

"Staff have contacted the parents of all the learners concerned.

"The trust would like to thank those members of staff who dealt with this incident and assure parents that we always deal robustly with these thankfully rare occurrences.
