Two lamps along Wall Heath High Street will have Christmas lights hanging from them after charity shop Helping Hands made a donation of £2,000 towards getting the lights set up.

Maria Psaras owns the Wall Heath Coffee Company on the high street and said that her part of the street always seemed to be neglected by shoppers.

She said: “We kind of get forgotten about at this end of the high street as people don’t know there are shops and other places here.

“My neighbours Love It Clothing have been here eight years, and myself for two, and people are still coming in and saying that they didn’t realise we were here.

“It seems like the council never seem to extend the lights down to where we are and I don’t know if that’s because they forgot about us or something else.”

Mrs Psaras said the lights had helped to bring more attention to her part of the high street and offered her own thanks to Helping Hands for their generosity in such a hard time.

She said: “I think it’s amazing what they’ve done and I think we were all just overwhelmed.”
