Appeal to help with poppy sales in Dudley

An urgent appeal has gone out to encourage more people to help out with selling poppies in Dudley.

Royal British Legion member Rose Cook-Monk has put out the appeal after finding she was the only volunteer who would be selling poppies in the town centre this year.

Rose has asked for anyone who can spare a couple of hours in the run up to Remembrance Sunday to contact her.

She said: "It's so sad that this year the Royal British Legions poppy takings may be significantly hit.

"This is inevitably down to Covid with Remembrance Services being cancelled and vulnerable volunteers safeguarding their own health.

"If anyone can spare a couple of hours on any day up to Remembrance Sunday based in the Churchill Shopping Precinct, please contact myself or Councillor Steve Waltho as we are both members of the Dudley Remembers Group."

Anyone who is interested should e-mail Rose at rosecook69@hotmail.co.uk or call Councillor Waltho on 07703 308463.
