Man who barricaded himself in house with weapons is Tasered by police

A man who barricaded himself inside a house allegedly armed with weapons was Tasered by police.

West Midlands Police were called to Thornberry Drive, on the Russells Hall estate, in Dudley, at around 11am on Sunday, following reports of damaged cars.

The man was said to be armed with a knife and metal bar and was threatening to harm himself.

Officers deployed a Taser before arresting the man – who was taken to hospital.

A woman who was also inside the property was not injured.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said:"The man who was armed with a knife and metal bar was threatening to harm himself. Officers deployed Taser and he was arrested.

"The ambulance service attended and he was taken to hospital and is receiving assistance from mental health specialists.

"The woman at the house in Thornberry Drive, was fortunately not harmed and received support from officers."
