The crossroads, next to the Five Ways Inn and The Bulls Head, was shut as police collision investigators examined the scene of what was the second serious crash there this year.

In July a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with an Audi car at the same junction.

This morning there was no visible sign of the collision and traffic was running as normal.

"I'm surprised one hasn't landed in my garden yet. The traffic is dangerous."

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation and I am asking for anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us to get in touch.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anybody who has dash cam or CCTV which can assist with our enquiries."
