And star player Roderick Miranda got his own lift when he visited Dudley Zoo.

The £2.5m signing from Portuguese side Rio Ave looked to be enjoying himself on a visit to the attraction.

Wolves fan Adam Field retweeted the picture and said: "Who said the Portuguese wouldn’t settle in Wolverhampton?"

The 26-year-old player has been ever present in the Wolves side this season.

The club is top of the Championship after a win against West Midlands rivals Aston Villa on Sunday.

The chairlift was first introduced at the zoo in 1958.

It closed in 200, but thanks to project funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, it reopened five years ago.

It takes visitors on a two-minute ride from the lower zoo to the upper section, offering panoramic views of the Midlands.
