The rabbits were dumped in a box at Bartley Reservoir

They were found by a couple out for their daily walk at Bartley Reservoir, in Frankley on January 10.

The couple took the box home and were able to care for the rabbits until animal rescuer Nichola Geraghty collected them.

Nichola, who owns two rescue rabbits herself, said: “It is lucky they were found.

"They could easily have escaped into the woodland or stayed inside the box and been mistaken for fly-tipped rubbish.

“It is never the answer to just dump an animal, we would always urge people to look for help from friends and family or from charities.

"These rabbits are domesticated and would never have survived on their own.”

The rabbits have been named Snuggles and Cuddles and have now been taken to RSPCA Newbrook Animal Centre.
