Man and woman arrested after three-week-old baby taken to hospital with serious injuries

Two people have been arrested after a three-week-old baby was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to a property in Moorend Avenue, in Chelmsley Wood, in the early hours of December 23.

A three-week old baby still remains in hospital seriously ill.

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of wilful assault. They have now been released on police bail.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A three-week-old child is seriously ill in hospital after emergency services were called to a property in Moorend Avenue, Chelmsley Wood in the early hours of Wednesday, December 23.

"A man, aged 22, and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of wilful assault and have been released on police bail while enquiries continue."
