Man left with serious injuries in hit-and-run outside pub

A man has been left with serious injuries after he was hit by a car outside a pub in Birmingham.

The 49-year-old was hit by a dark grey Nissan Micra in front of the Merry Mare pub, on Stone Lane, Yardley.

The incident took place at around 10.50pm on Thursday, with the vehicle leaving the scene travelling toward Stechford.

The vehicle was later recovered by police on Bonham Grove – with officers now appealing for people, including the driver, to come forward.

Anyone who has dash cam footage of the vehicle – registration HW55 FZU – or who witnessed the incident should contact police.

Pc Julian Holt from the traffic unit, said: "After hitting the man, the car made off from the scene, leaving him with very serious injuries.

"I would urge the driver to do the right thing and come forward."
