The victim suffered 'potentially life changing injuries' say West Midlands Ambulance Service.

The crash happened in Chester Road, Castle Vale, at around 9.10am on Monday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a woman who had suffered very serious injuries."

She was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

The woman driving the car was shaken but was not injured.

An ambulance came across the incident four minutes after the call and was backed up by a second ambulance, the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car.
