CCTV released by West Midlands Police shows the moment of the attack

The grainy footage shows the moment the assault happened outside the Coventry Road Medical Centre in Short Heath, Birmingham.

A 19-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries and placed into an induced coma after the attack on July 3.

However, despite the incident taking place in broad daylight at 3.50pm, so far just one witness has come forward to police.

WATCH the CCTV here:

The man remains in hospital in a serious condition, with the full extent of his injuries not known. Police are unsure if he will ever fully recover.

Detective Constable Dan Busby, the investigating officer from West Midlands Police, said: “The attack happened at a really busy time of day and there would have been a number of people in the area.

"But, to date only one witness has come forward and spoken to police.

“The victim, who was due to start a new job has been left with severe head injuries and may never regain consciousness.

"We are working hard to piece together the evidence we have, but are urging anyone in the area at the time of the attack to come forward.

“If you were there, believe you know who is responsible, or have any other information which may assist our enquiry − no matter how small, please share this with us so we can take those responsible off the streets and prevent this from happening again.

"Please take a minute to view the footage. I acknowledge the CCTV is poor quality but it is enough to jog the memory of anyone who was in the area at the time."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101 quoting crime number 20BW/140089N/17.
