The crews from Stafford, Cannock and Newcastle were called to the River Sow near Eccleshall after getting reports of a cow being stuck in the river.

The crews worked to lift the cow, which is pregnant, out of the river to safety, completing the work after three hours in hot conditions yesterday evening.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to Chester Road in Eccleshall shortly after 4pm on Tuesday 11 August to reports of a pregnant cow stuck in the river.
