Man stabbed to death at Paddy Power in Handsworth
A man has been stabbed to death at a bookmakers in the middle of the day.
Police said a man was found with severe head injuries at Paddy Power on Rookery Road, Handsworth, at 12.45pm and pronounced dead at the scene.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder as police launched an investigation into what happened. The road remains cordoned off.
Police said the stabbing was thought to be an 'isolated incident'.
The bookies is a short distance along the A41 from West Brom's Hawthorns ground.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "On arrival at the bookmakers, a man was found with severe head injuries.
"Due to the extent of his injuries, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this stage, this is believed to be an isolated incident.
"A cordon is in place and inquiries are ongoing.
"The road has been closed at Newcombe Road at the junction with Rookery Road.
"Buses are currently being diverted away from the area.
"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 giving log number 895 of January 4."
