Which West Midlands NHS Trust is the most complained about?

Top of the list, according to a study by Spotless Interactive, is Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, which had 1,1268 complaints from May last year to May this year.

The group runs Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic.

Second on the list was University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. That trust received 821 complaints.

Third was West Midlands Ambulance Service, which had 425 complaints. It was followed by The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which had 296 complaints, then Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with 255 complaints.

The average amount of complaints the NHS trusts in the West Midlands received during the time period was 318.

Out of the regions 14 NHS Trusts, 13 responded to the Freedom of Information Act request from the group.

Ben Logan, director at Spotless Interactive, a service design agency, said: “The NHS has had a lot of negative criticism over the last year for many things, from political reasons to general mess ups within the organisations. There has also been a lot of talk about the trusts not handling the complaints effectively, causing more aggravation.

“We’re hoping with this data we can take a real look into which ones are making the most mistakes and hopefully the public will be able to see for themselves which ones aren’t at the top of their game when it comes to taking and dealing with complaints.”

Data published by the company also revealed the trusts least complained about.

Top of the list was South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust with 100 complaints.

Third was Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust with 116 complaints and fourth was Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust with 161 complaints
