Adrian Ripa was captured on CCTV fly-tipping six fridges and a sofa outside Divine Onkar Mission Charity's shop in Wolverhampton.

The 47-year-old initially claimed he was leaving the items for charity despite a clear "no fly-tipping" sign but later admitted fly-tipping offences.

Councillor Steve Evans, Wolverhampton Council's cabinet member for city environment, said: "Fly tipping is a serious crime that will not be tolerated.

"I am pleased with the outcome and the court’s support to clamp down on fly tippers.

"We hope this sends a strong message to all those involved in illegal acts of fly tipping that we will be making life even more difficult to those who continue to blight our streets with illegally dumped waste.

"We are committed to tackling fly tippers and will take all necessary measures to stop this criminal behaviour and to keep Wolverhampton a clean and attractive place to live, work and visit.”

The dumped rubbish

Footage shows a white van pulling up on Drayton Street on multiple occasions, with the driver illegally dumping the unwanted items.

Council officers contacted the DVLA to obtain details of the registered keeper of the vehicle but it was not registered.

The white van was soon tracked down by the council's public protection team at Ripa's address, where it was eventually seized.

Ripa, of Upper Villiers Street, Wolverhampton, admitted four fly-tipping offences between July 2018 and March 2019 when he was interview by council officers.

He was handed a £680 fine, costs of £2305.28 and a £68 victim surcharge, with his vehicle seized and destroyed, at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on May 30.
