The film, made for his popular Comedy Central show in the States, takes a look at crime in the city with officers from West Midlands Police.

He joined Inspector Matt Minton and Sergeant Leanne Chapman and the film sees the pair stop and detain suspected criminals.

Jefferies has been vocal in his criticism of US gun control and has made it a feature of his stand up routines.

In the film the comic was stunned that Inspector Minton was only packing “pepper spray and a stick”.

Birmingham is the so-called murder capital of the UK with 13 homicides in 2016.

Yet the film highlights in Birmingham, Alabama, which has a quarter of the population, there were eight times more, with 104 murders in 2016.

Jefferies seems baffled at the scale of violent incidents that officers will deal with without the need for weapons.

The footage shows the cops arrest two suspects, with one protesting “Honestly bab, I’ve never done a burglary”.
