People in the West Midlands should standby for a mixed bag of weather for the rest of the month, according to the Met Office.

There will be an ‘unsettled regime’ of rain and wind, mixed with bursts of sunshine throughout the next few weeks, the forecaster said.

It comes as children across the Midlands begin their school summer holidays.

The prediction for today is for a ‘fine day with sunny spells and light winds’ with a maximum temperature 24C (75F).

But the unsettled weather will kick in as the week progresses.

Met Office spokesman Oli Claydon said: “Looking at the forecast from tomorrow until Friday, it will become windier through the rest of the week with a spell of rain.

“Generally dry with sunny spells on Thursday and Friday, perhaps with the odd shower.”

The temperature in the West Midlands will hit 19C (66F) tomorrow, 17C (62F) on Thursday and 18C (64F) on Friday.

By the first week of August the weather should start to settle down, with warmer temperatures on the horizon.

Mr Claydon said rain will sweep in from the South West tomorrow.

He added: “Rain will move eastward through the day, meaning pretty persistent drizzle.

A general regime of sunshine and showers is the theme for both Thursday and Friday.

“Going into the weekend, it looks like a showery picture.” Generally, temperatures will be normal to cool, with possible warmer conditions in the far South East.

Heavy showers and strong winds are most likely in the North West, the Met Office added.

More settled conditions and hotter temperatures may be felt from August 6, thanks to signals for high pressure.

However, by the middle of August signals ‘become mixed’ meaning confidence in predictions is low.
