The company announced 42 coronavirus vaccination centres around the UK that are eligible for the offer.

In line with the cost of an average fare, Uber will cover up to £15 of passengers’ trips by entering the correct promotion code for the mass-vaccination hub they are travelling to in the app ahead of booking their journey.

Jamie Heywood, Uber’s regional general manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, said: “It’s vital that the most vulnerable people in our society are vaccinated against the virus as soon as possible, and we want to help remove any barriers that could prevent them from travelling safely to get their jab.”

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Uber has introduced a number of safety measures.

They include mask verification: drivers must take a selfie to verify they’re wearing a face covering before they can accept trips.

Drivers have been provided with masks, hand sanitisers and wipes, and customers are asked to sit in the back when travelling.

For more information about how to claim one of up to 30,000 free trips, and for the full list of hubs that are included in the offer, go to uber.com/ukvaccines.

Passengers looking to use the discount for trips to Telford International Centre or the Black Country Living Museum should enter the promo code UBERUKMP in the Wallet section of the Uber app.
