Suzanne Webb and her staff found nine out of 17 homes in the constituency had administered the vaccine or would be in the coming days.

Out of the 13 who responded, three said they had no dates but were in touch with health chiefs and one has not received any contact at all.

Ms Webb said: "I am very pleased with the progress so far, as care home residents are the most vulnerable in our community and they and the staff who look after them are in the government’s top four vaccination priorities,.

"However, I will continue to monitor the situation and I was a little concerned to discover one home had not received any contact. This is now being chased up by my team.

"The vaccine programme is a big logistical task but it is absolutely vital to get our care home residents and other vulnerable categories vaccinated as quickly as possible. Doing so will save lives and help chart a path out of lockdown for the country."
