Opening of Wolverhampton's rapid Covid testing site delayed

The opening of the rapid Covid testing site in Wolverhampton has been delayed.

The Government-run site at the Guru Nanak Sikh temple in Sedgley Street, Blakenhall, was due to open at 7am today.

But due to delays in setting up, organisers are now asking members of the public not to come to the site until tomorrow, when it will be open from 7am to 7pm.

A Department for Health and Social Care spokesperson, said: “We advise people not to come to the test site today. The test site will be fully up and running tomorrow.”

A small number of people are being tested this evening.

People from the community who do not have Covid symptoms can turn up and take a lateral flow test without the need for an appointment.

Results will be provided in half an hour via text or email.
