Wednesbury Leisure Centre worker tests positive for coronavirus

An employee at Wednesbury Leisure Centre has tested positive for coronavirus.

Sandwell Leisure Trust, which runs the centre, say the employee has an "essentially none public facing" role.

The employee is self-isolating, along with two colleagues that had close contact outside of work, and the leisure centre remains open.

A spokesman for Sandwell Leisure Trust, said: “We can confirm we have had one confirmed case of Covid-19 of an employee that works at Wednesbury Leisure Centre whose role is essentially none public facing.

“This employee is self-isolating along with two colleagues that had close contact outside of work.

“The centre team have done everything in accordance with Covid-Secure guidance. Public Health have also been notified and we can confirm we have taken all the appropriate safety measures required.

“The facility is safe to open, social distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitising measures continue to be in place throughout the centre.

“There have been no further reported cases of staff or public at the centre and we are monitoring this closely.”
