From tomorrow, Mountford Lane car park in Bilston will open daily between 8am-8pm for people with coronavirus symptoms.

The new site is part of ongoing plans by Wolverhampton Council to increase the number of people getting tested.

It follows the opening of Showell Road, off Stafford Road, and Whitmore Reans Health Centre as other walk-in testing sites.

Councillor Linda Leach, Wolverhampton’s cabinet member for adults, welcomed the opening of the Bilston testing centre.

“As cabinet member for adults I want to encourage people of all ages, including the vulnerable, to get tested if they have any symptoms,” she said.

“Mountford Lane car park is a convenient location in Bilston for local people to get tested. We want to boost the number of people getting tests across the city and the new site will help us do that.”

Testing is available free of charge to anyone who has symptoms of Covid-19, no matter how mild. These include a fever, a new, continuous cough and loss or change to a person’s sense of taste and smell.
