Sedgley Conservative Club faces being stripped of its alcohol licence after police visited the Hall Street bar in May.

It comes after all pubs and bars were ordered to close by the Government to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Officers from West Midlands Police asked Dudley Council to review its licence in the aftermath of the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "Due to a suspected breach of coronavirus restrictions and licensing objectives, the matter has been referred to Dudley Council’s Licensing Committee to review."

Councillors have the power to revoke the club’s licence, suspend it for three months or impose new conditions on how the business operates.

The council’s licensing sub-committee will meet on July 7 to make a decision on the police request.
