Since the beginning of lockdown in March a total of 1,455 weddings have had to be rearranged across the region.

In the Dudley borough, 300 couples have had to cancel their original civil ceremonies, and the council said the majority have already rescheduled, or are about to.

Across Staffordshire 930 wedding ceremonies booked from March to October have been rearranged.

In Wolverhampton a total of 99 weddings have been deferred.

A spokesman for Wolverhampton Council said: "Since lockdown began in March, we have had to defer 49 Wolverhampton Register Office ceremonies and 50 ceremonies due to take place at other venues.

"All weddings are currently deferred nationally, so we are awaiting an update from central government as to when wedding ceremonies will once again be permitted before rescheduling any."

In Sandwell, 62 weddings have had to be rearranged. This figures includes all weddings which have been rearranged as a result of coronavirus from when lockdown began on March 23 until June 17, when the data was collated.

A spokesman for Sandwell Council added: "This could be where couples have rearranged due to the ceremony not being able to take place due to Government guidance which is currently in place and also some weddings which were planned to take place over the summer but couples have decided to rearrange the wedding at a later time due to the current restrictions and uncertainty."

And 64 marriages have been rescheduled in Walsall due to Government restrictions. This includes ceremonies due to take place in the Register Office or at approved premises within the district.
