Workers at Cygnet Raglan House, based on Raglan Road, Smethwick, held an "Appreciation Day" to give back to key workers amid coronavirus.

The service helps women, aged from 18-30, with mental health issues, with the day designed to lift spirits and thank dedicated staff.

Rachael Huxley, a therapy coordinator, said: "Over the last week we've been trying to keep the women busy with different events – such as gardening pamper sessions, music groups, and others.

"A lot of the women can't understand what's happening right now and it's hard for them.

"Some women don't leave without staff and aren't unescorted on their own – and they're growing frustrated they can't leave the building due to Government policy.

"A few of the patients and staff came up with a few ideas to keep spirits high and we did this Appreciation Day."

A disco took place before the UK-wide clap for the NHS at 8pm.

The service offers 25 beds to women and provides a space for mental health recovery – focusing on space, privacy and dignity.

It was set up to understand, stabilise and tackle traumatic cycles which can impact on people's lives.
