Alan Niblett, Suneil Pawar, Nick Vaidya and Aleks Stojanovic from Finchfield are taking on a challenge of running and cycling four miles every four hours for 48 hours for Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust

The Coppice Boys, who are five friends living on Coppice Road in Finchfield in Wolverhampton, are getting ready to take on the David Goggins Worldwide 4x4x48 Challenge.

The challenge was started by David Goggins, an American ultramarathon runner and motivational speaker, and will see participants across the world run four miles, every four hours, for 48 hours from March 5 to March 7.

Nik Vaidya is one of the group taking part, alongside fellow runners Suneil Pawar and Dave Brown. Alan Niblett and Aleks Stojanovic will also be raising cash by covering 15 to 20 kilometres every four hours on bikes.

The 41-year-old said the group was doing the challenge for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS trust and said it was worth the pain to thank people he had a lot of respect for.

He said: “Those people are the real heroes for all their work in the NHS.

Limits

“We wanted to do something to support the work they are doing for people suffering with Covid and for all the issues and challenges they are facing.

“We decided, as a group, to do this to commemorate the hard work they’re doing and try to raise some money help them out.”

Mr Vaidya said each member of the group, who range from late 30s to early 50s, liked to do fitness work and try to keep active through running and cycling, so it worked out as an idea to do the challenge and raise some money.

He said: “We’ve all had links with New Cross Hospital as Alan’s mother had recently been there and my mum has just come out of there after having a heart bypass and pacemaker fitted.

“It’s just a good thing to push ourselves and test our limits and, essentially, uncover what you’re made of and raise some money in the process.”
