The staff wore matching face masks to their costumes as part of Disney Day at Russells Hall Hospital, which was held to show the youngsters that hospital can be fun.

A beach party and circus themes are planned for later in the summer.

Karen Anderson, head of children’s services at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We began holding themed days each month in our children’s areas last year as a way of showing children that hospital can be fun and isn’t something to be scared about. Obviously we had to stop during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Disney Day is one of our most popular so we decided to relaunch with that as soon as we were able to. All of our staff on the ward take part and really go to town with their costumes – although this time we had to add in face masks and hadn’t banked on it being the hottest day of the year so far!
