Margaret Allport, 69, was found unresponsive by her son at their home on Hampton Street, Netherton, at around 6.30am on January 22.

Her son called for an ambulance and was advised to perform CPR on his mother, Black Country Coroner's Court was told.

But paramedics confirmed she was dead at the scene. She was found surrounded by blister packs of tablets.

Doctors concluded her medical cause of death was a drugs overdose. Area coroner for the West Midlands, Joanne Lees, recorded her death as suicide.

A report was received from Bushey Fields psychiatric hospital, in Dudley, saying she had been diagnosed with chronic paranoid schizophrenia.

However a recent assessment by the hospital found that she was feeling was mentally stable. The court heard she was looking forward to a holiday in November.

Mrs Lees said: "On the balance of probability, I am going to record a short-form conclusion of suicide. I am satisfied Mrs Allport intended the consequences of her actions.

"I offer my sincere condolences to the family of Mrs Allport."
