Man vs Fat: Tipton football league where weight-loss counts as much as goals

A new football league will give players the chance to score some goals while losing weight.

The Man vs Fat league in Tipton runs for 14 weeks.

Each week the men get weighed in and play six-a-side matches with rolling substitutes – so everyone has a chance to rest.

Games are 14 minutes each half with a two-minute rest and open to all ages and abilities. Players don’t just score goals to win matches – weight loss also goes towards the final result.

Coach Mark Phillips said: “We are currently recruiting players and if you know anybody who wants to join the league get them to get in contact and join us.

“We all have to start somewhere and with the right advice and guidance and somebody who listens we as a team will achieve our targets and have a laugh along the way.”

The league is for men only and they must have a BMI of 27.5 or over to join the league and want to lose weight.

The games are played at the RSA Academy in Bilston Road.

Anyone interested in signing up should call 0845 163 0042 or email football@manvfat.com. Alternatively call coach Mark on 07765 138475.
