Following on from last week's unsettled weather, with sun, snow and rain sweeping the region, the sunny spells are now predicted to continue into next week.

People have already been enjoying the warmer weather and lighter nights at the region's parks and green spaces this week, as well as zoos, theme parks and drive-in performances, since restrictions relaxed on Monday.

The forecast for today from The Met Office, predicts: "Plenty of early sunshine on Friday before patchy cloud develops again.

"It should remain dry, and another clear and frosty night will follow. Maximum temperature 12 (53.6F)."

Despite the colder weather over the last week, 12 hours of unbroken sunshine are forecast for the West Midlands on Saturday.

According to the Met Office's long-range forecast between April 19 and 28, outbreaks of rain will soon fade before dry spells hit the country.

A spell of 18 Celsius (64.4F) weather is expected to hit the UK on April 26 - far higher than what is expected at this time of year.

The hot weather will be at its highest in London and South-East England, although the north, South-West and the Midlands will see the mercury surge to 15 Celsius (59F).
