The boards, which are located at Alder Coppice Local Nature Reserve in Sedgley, were funded through a £2,716.97 community grant from Dudley Council. A local businessman also paid the installation costs.

One sign is located along the Northway entrance while the other is at Swallowfields Road.

Simon Biggs, who is chairman of Friends of Alder Coppice which looks after the woodland, said: "Alder Coppice is an ancient woodland and also a wet woodland which is a protected environment now on Natural England’s biodiversity action plan list.

"During April, Alder Coppice is full of bluebells and is one of the 10 best bluebell woods in the West Midlands.

"The bluebells are closely followed by wild garlic [ramsons] in early May.

"The woodland abounds with wildlife from muntjac deer to foxes, badgers and smaller mammals, alongside an abundance of birds, fungi and flowers.

"We have been very busy during the lockdown and the woods have been an oasis for people in this area to relax and enjoy.

"The group hope that the new notice boards will help give the public information about the woodland and what they can see on their walk in the woods.

"They also describe the activities of the friends group and give information on aspects of woodland management and conservation."
