Pensioner, 89, injured in fall on busy Wolverhampton road

A pensioner suffered head injuries after falling over on a busy road in Wolverhampton today.

The 89-year-old man was taken to New Cross Hospital after falling on Wolverhampton's Willenhall Road, near to the junction with Uplands Avenue, at around 10.50am.

Kirsty Ball, aged 23, who lives on Willenhall Road, said: "It's a shock. There were no cars about so I thought maybe he had just passed out or something. I hope he's OK."

In a separate incident today, a man suffered minor injuries following a crash on Stafford Road, near to the Five Ways Island.

He had been driving a white Nissan van when it collided with a silver Volkswagen Polo at around 10.20am.

The accident caused an outside lane and a pedestrian crossing to be blocked.
