The incident occurred at a primary school in the Dudley borough.

A text message was sent out to parents at a number of schools as a precaution.

Councillor Ruth Buttery, Dudley Council's cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We were made aware of a parent and child being approached by a stranger while outside one of our primary schools yesterday.

"Schools commonly share such issues between them and yesterday some of our borough schools informed parents of this incident and warned them to be vigilant, messages which are always reinforced within school as a matter of course.”
